Heritage Space trân trọng giới thiệu buổi Thuyết trình và thảo luận với tên gọi "Giám tuyển triển lãm Thực nghiệm/ Ý niệm trong môi trường Đô thị”, trình bày bởi giám tuyển Pil Joo Jung đến từ Seoul, Hàn Quốc. Đây là chương trình nằm trong hợp phần Chuyên gia của MAP 2019, dành riêng cho các Nghệ sỹ trong dự án và các Đối tác nghệ thuật của Heritage Space.
* NỘI DUNG -
Jennifer Vanderpool là một nghệ sĩ thực hành xã hội hoạt động chủ yếu tại Los Angeles. Trong bài thuyết trình Jennifer sẽ thảo luận về cách cô phát triển thực hành của mình dựa trên câu chuyện về gia đình nhập cư thuộc tầng lớp lao động của mình như một lăng kính để truy vấn việc xây dựng xã hội dựa trên những ảnh hưởng của lịch sử, chủng tộc, giai cấp và lao động. Jennifer khám phá cách các tác phẩm của cô vượt ra khỏi nghệ thuật phương tiện và sắp đặt trở thành những triển lãm có tính đặc thù cộng đồng và tương tác thực địa trong quá trình biến cô trở thành một nghệ sĩ thực hành xã hội.

Jennifer Vanderpool là nghệ sĩ từ Los Angeles làm việc trên nhiều phương tiện để phơi bày mối tương quan giữa môi trường vật lý và những lực vô hình tác động lên nó, tạo nên những tự sự về các thể chế, con người và cộng đồng bị lãng quên. Các triển lãm năm 2017 của cô bao gồm Super Natural, tại Trung tâm nghệ thuật đương đại quốc gia Moscow, Nga, và Nepravilnyi Prikus, Simferopol. Cô triển lãm Flores Para El Trueque đầu tiên cùng với Mercadito & Mentidero, Bogotá, Colombia, và sau đó với No Lugar – Arte Contemporáneo and La Huerta y La Maquina, Quito, Ecuador. Những tác phẩm video của Vanderpool được đưa vào 2017 Festival M.A.R.S. | Music & Art ReSound, Los Angeles và Twenty/20 tại Edward Cella Art+Architecture, Los Angeles. Triển lãm cá nhân của Jennifer với tên gọi "Garment Girl' từng được trưng bày ở Heritage Space vào tháng 5/2018 và sau đó ở nhiều nơi khác trên nước Mỹ.

Heritage Space is pleased to invite you to the Lecture and Discussion with Artist-Researcher-Curator Jennifer Vanderpool from BC Santa Barbara (Los Angeles, United States). This program is a part of Expert's Section - MAP 2019, only for artists in the project and representatives from Heritage Space's partners.

Jennifer Vanderpool is a Los Angeles based social practice artist. Jennifer will discuss how she developed her practice drawing on her immigrant family's working-class story as a lens to query the social construction of place based on the influences of history, race, class, and labor. She will explore how her work moved beyond media and installation art to community-specific and site-responsive exhibitions in the process of becoming a social practice artist.
* About SPEAKER:
Jennifer Vanderpool is a Los Angeles based new genre artist who works across mediums to reveal relationships between physical landscapes and the unseen forces that shape them, knitting together narratives about forgotten institutions, people, and communities. Her 2017 exhibitions included Super Natural, which opened at the National Centre for Contemporary Art in Moscow, Russia, and traveled to Nepravilnyi Prikus, Simferopol. She exhibited Flores Para El Trueque initially with Mercadito & Mentidero, Bogotá, Colombia, and then with No Lugar – Arte Contemporáneo and La Huerta y La Maquina, Quito, Ecuador. Vanderpool's video work was included in the 2017 Festival M.A.R.S. | Music & Art ReSound, Los Angeles and Twenty/20 at Edward Cella Art+Architecture, Los Angeles. She has been awarded exhibition funding from the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, Kunstrådet: Danish Arts Council, Kulturrådet: Swedish Arts Council, and Malmö Stad as well as a National Endowment for the Arts Challenge America grant for her community art outreach work and a National Endowment for the Arts: Art Works grant for her curatorial work. Vanderpool has been a Visiting Lecturer at UC Santa Barbara, UC Los Angeles, Otis College of Art and Design, Universiteit van Amsterdam, and Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Bogotá. Recently, Jennifer Vanderpool has presented "Garment Girl' - the solo exhibition in Heritage Space in May 2018.
